QUOTES blog #7

In chapte2, Patrick J Finn talks about how education in literacy is not equally balanced throughout social classes in a way that support prexisting economic and social disparities. He research Jean Anyon's that schools in other communities provide different types of education, to prepare students for adulthood.
As he also states that "Schools in differrent social class communities teach different knowledge and skills in different ways, preparing children for different kinds of lives in the adult world". Education overall is not open minded it is more often conditions students to accept their own role in society.  Also students in working class school are taught to memorize task when on the other hand students in elite school teach students in critical thinking and leadership. The results on this would be working class students remain in deferential role when elite school students will move on and be taught the skills to and knowledge to stay in power.  Overall Finn’s make many points calling out educators, policymakers and just students to push for an education system that empowers all students no matter what class their in.

Carla Shalaby challenges the way schools label and discipline students who are seen as disruptive. She argues that children who are often punished for misbehavior are actually exposing deeper flaws in the education system, such as rigid rules and a lack of support for individuality. Instead of viewing these children as problems, Shalaby encourages educators to see them as reflections of what needs to change in classrooms creating environment tat embrace creativity, justice, and freedom.
The second article Introduction talks about the ways in sic traditional education often suppresses Students voice and enforces conformity rather then critical thinking and emotional growth. Both authors sow how Important reevaluating the way school handle discipline and learning environment

Introduction to Culturally (Blog 5)

The author argues that culturally relevant is essential for creating learning environments where student’s cultural backgrounds are recognized and their academic success. Gloria’s Lawson billings a member in the field faces that traditional education often neglects the cultural experiences and identities of students, maybe leading to a disconnect between home and school. In her point of view, teaching must go beyond delivering content, it as to actively incorporate students cultural backgrounds into the school curriculum and in the classroom setting, she also highlights. When students with cultures background see their cultures being ingratiated into what they learn and how they learn it, they will be more engaged and also motivated to learn. By using the approach it challenges educators to rethink their curriculum and also the teacher teaching methods. Therefore advocating for those with cultural experiences and academic achievement.

Reflecting on her argument, I find her perspective to a a bit of both very challenging but inspiring. It gets me to consider if my own educational experiences could have been different if my cultural background as been acknowledged within the classroom. Her argument is an overall a call to action for teachers to recognize the cultural experiences brings to learning.

 blog 4)The silenced dialogue

-The silenced dialogue critically studies how education systems often reinforce a “culture of power” that excludes students from non dominant cultural and language backgrounds. Delpit argues that many progressive student centered teaching methods inadvertently assume that all students will all naturally acquire the “codes of power” such as standard english and over academics. This assumption disadvantages those who are not already familiar with the already in place. She contends that it is essential for teaching these codes, ensuring that excluded students are not left to work out academic norms on their own while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of validating their cultures and languages. Delpit also highlights how traditional educational practices often silence the voices of educators, parents and overall students from minority communities, leaving very important perspectives out of the conversation on educational change.rather Delpit discarding these methods, she advocates for a balanced. Delpit’s analysis challenges educators to rethink their practices and engage in an inclusive dialogue that acknowledges and addresses the inherent power dynamics in the classroom
