blog 4)The silenced dialogue
-The silenced dialogue critically studies how education systems often reinforce a “culture of power” that excludes students from non dominant cultural and language backgrounds. Delpit argues that many progressive student centered teaching methods inadvertently assume that all students will all naturally acquire the “codes of power” such as standard english and over academics. This assumption disadvantages those who are not already familiar with the already in place. She contends that it is essential for teaching these codes, ensuring that excluded students are not left to work out academic norms on their own while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of validating their cultures and languages. Delpit also highlights how traditional educational practices often silence the voices of educators, parents and overall students from minority communities, leaving very important perspectives out of the conversation on educational change.rather Delpit discarding these methods, she advocates for a balanced. Delpit’s analysis challenges educators to rethink their practices and engage in an inclusive dialogue that acknowledges and addresses the inherent power dynamics in the classroom
