In chapte2, Patrick J Finn talks about how education in literacy is not equally balanced throughout social classes in a way that support prexisting economic and social disparities. He research Jean Anyon's that schools in other communities provide different types of education, to prepare students for adulthood.
As he also states that "Schools in differrent social class communities teach different knowledge and skills in different ways, preparing children for different kinds of lives in the adult world". Education overall is not open minded it is more often conditions students to accept their own role in society. Also students in working class school are taught to memorize task when on the other hand students in elite school teach students in critical thinking and leadership. The results on this would be working class students remain in deferential role when elite school students will move on and be taught the skills to and knowledge to stay in power. Overall Finn’s make many points calling out educators, policymakers and just students to push for an education system that empowers all students no matter what class their in.
